Shellie is not only Billy Blanks’® daughter but has been at his right hand side from the creation of Tae Bo® Fitness. Her knowledge, dedication & guidance has been nothing but an asset for the continued growth and instruction of this revolutionary fitness regimen. Her humble beginnings, being brought up in the projects of Erie, Pennsylvania, to her current residence in the state of Tennessee, is a storybook fantasy in itself.
Before starring as the original Yellow Power Ranger (fighting/stunts), modeling in a number of Fitness Magazines, starring in a Tae Bo® Fitness Subway commercial campaign and having appeared on many TV spots, such as “Oprah,” “Montell Williams” & “The Parkers” hit television shows, she put in plenty of time working toward her mastery of Martial Arts. Training began at the young age of 2 years old and at 14, she won the Jiu Jitsu World Championships and a Gold Medal at the Junior Olympics for Full Contact Sparring. Currently, she is in a select club that only a few, dedicated women have attained, by acquiring a 6th Degree Black Belt in the Martial Art discipline of Tae Kwon Do.
At age 9 she and her family moved to Boston, Massachusetts, which would explain her fanaticism toward the Boston Red Sox & the New England Patriots. Los Angeles eventually became home another six years later, where she continued to foster her career as a personal trainer, Tae Kwon Do & Tae Bo® Fitness instructor to many. The long list includes business executives, professional athletes and celebrities such as: Shaquille O’Neal, Wayne Gretzky, Magic Johnson, Brooke Shields, Robert Downy Jr, Queen Latifah, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Jessica Alba, Goldie Hawn, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Lisa Marie Presley, Slash (Gun n Roses), Jordon Knight (NKOTB), Ricky Bell (BBD), Anna Nicole Smith, Denise Richards, David Alan Grier, Mr T, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bette Midler, Ryan O’Neal, Mo’Nique, James Toney (Boxing Champion), Kris Jenner, Rodney Pete (Pro Footbal), & David Hasselhoff.
Shellie travels internationally, training, instructing and demonstrating the world-renowned fitness technique(s) of Tae Bo®, created by her father, Billy Blanks®. One of her greatest enjoyments of spreading the goodwill of Tae Bo® Fitness has been traveling overseas to work with members of the U.S. Armed Forces in such places as Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Spain, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sarajevo, Greece, Africa, Germany, Italy and many locations throughout the United States. While home, she focuses her efforts on Tae Bo® Fitness by running the certification camp (www.teamtaebo.com), adding content on the web club at www.billyblanks.com, and spearheading creative ways of bringing Tae Bo® Fitness to the next level. Shellie’s passions include helping others achieve their best, fellowshipping at Oasis Church and watching football on Sunday afternoon with her family.
Mark’s interest in fitness started at a young age when his Mom used to take him along with her to run local road races, and soon started winning them. His success continued throughout his high school athletic career by winning the Illinois State High School Football Championship, being selected “Intercity Player of the Week”, for his play in the game and nominated “Most Improved Player” by his fellow teammates. And in track, Mark broke the high school pole-vaulting record. Outside of school he acquired a Black Belt in Goju-Shorei and became an avid barefoot water-skier (trained by World Barefoot Champion: Mike Seipel),
Mark continued playing football in college as well as jumping into an amateur boxing career with a bang by winning the Championship Belt and “Best Overall Boxer” in his first tournament. Guy Carlton also trained Mark on power lifting techniques. (Guy is considered one of the Top Olympic Weight Lifters of the 20th Century by medaling in the Olympics, World Championships & Pan America Games.)
Outside of fitness Mark gained much success as a Top National Sales Leader in the medical industry, working for such companies as Apria Healthcare, DePuy Orthopaedics and Teleflex Medical/ Hudson RCI. And with a degree in theatre and a current member of SAG-AFTRA since 1995 (IMDB), he has fond memories of working and meeting such people as Michael Jordan (Nike Commercial), William Forsythe (The Untouchables TV Series) and Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte (I Love Trouble, Feature Film).
Mark was introduced to Tae Bo® Fitness in the late 90’s by Billy Blanks®, the creator of Tae Bo®. He likes to say, “I love Tae Bo® so much, I married the creator’s daughter.” He personally trained with Billy Blanks®, was originally certified by him and started teaching Tae Bo® Fitness as well as training many business executives, professional athletes and celebrities at Mr. Blanks, one and only, world renowned, fitness center in Southern California. He was later placed in charge of the marketing launch for the Tae Bo® Certification program. When Billy relocated to his new facility he was hired on as General Manger in charge of operations. All of this experience, & his Certifications in Tae Bo® Fitness and TRX®, helped to groom Mark and, with the help of his wife, Shellie, and their two sons, Rocco and Titus, they are proud to have opened their own studio in the heart of Franklin, TN (just south of Nashville) on November 11th, 2012. It has been and continues to be an incredible journey and they welcome you to come on by.
